Welcome Lydia to the CK Team

Lydia recently joined the ColinKurtis account management team as a Junior Copywriter. We wanted to get to know her a little better with a Q&A.

What is your new role at ColinKurtis?

I’m the new Junior Copywriter with ColinKurtis. I’ll be responsible for editing, revising, and proofing any copy before it’s submitted to a client. And most importantly, I’ll write original copy that resonates with the brands we work with!

What does a typical day look like?

Along with drinking a freshly brewed cup of coffee, I like to start my days with a quick read. I found a UK mindfulness magazine, Breathe, to be a great resource during the pandemic for creative journal prompts, working from home advice, and mindfulness practices that can help with overall productivity and wellness. My actual workday begins with checking my calendar and tasks and checking in with the Senior Copywriter to make sure I’m aware of my upcoming responsibilities. Then, I jump right in, prioritizing any tasks that need to be completed EOD first, and subsequently, getting ahead on other projects. Before I hop off for the day, I always leave a to-do list for myself as a reminder of any urgent writing assignments.

What part of your role do you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy building brand stories. Each client is so unique, and I love that I get to be a part of the process in helping our clients share their stories about why they do what they do.

Can you tell us a little about your professional background?

I graduated from Lewis University with a degree in English and a minor in Professional Writing, and my writing and editing backgrounds dip into the publishing, startup, and floral design industries.

How do you enjoy spending your time outside the office?

I love hiking, rollerblading, and really doing anything outdoors.

What did you want to be when you grew up (before you knew you would have a career in marketing)?

I knew I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. I remember going to the Rockford Public Library with my mom and two younger brothers to participate in their summer reading program. Dreaming of writing my own book one day, I felt it was a calling to write stories in some shape or form. Hence, working in the Marketing field has made that childhood dream come true.
